Can we please take discussion of opinions on copyright law to another 
venue than the wgchairs list? If you want to know about US copyright 
law, just read the US copyright office's page on copyright basics

or something similar (i.e. Berne convention, your country's copyright 
law,..). It will answer all of the questions about copyright notices 
and transfer of copyright ownership, etc.
