Yes, sort of. This is part of the template work, please read that draft.
To be clear: my questions are intended to be Socratic. They're not for
my own education; they're to spur discussion.
At the interim, there was significant discussion around these points,
and some of them wandered into comparisons to HTML (in which one can
differentiate between, say, radio buttons and multi-select lists, even
though they have the same semantic meaning) and to XFORMS. The approach
described in the current template draft isn't a foregone conclusion, and
I wanted to encourage an examination of the various options we have in
this space.
I have personal opinions about how this should be done, but I'm trying
to leave my opinions out of the posts I mark "[as chair]". To be
impartial, I'm including options that I personally think are Really Bad
Ideas [tm]. After others comment on the points, I intend to come back
and provide my own personal opinions where I think they matter.
