Re: [XCON] draft on MSRP conferencing
Hi Adam,
I can understand the confusion, especially since we've been bashing our
heads together in XCON for a long time in an effort to understand the
difference (or if there is one) between a private message and a sidebar.
However, here is our concrete proposal for the former. I.e., a mechanism
that allows a participant of a multiparty MSRP session to send a
*single* message to a subset of the roster, rather than the entire chat
room. This mechanism is completely orthogonal to the XCON sidebar
mechanism, in fact, one could send a DISTSEND method in a sidebar as well.
Our aim is to make multiparty MSRP as feature-rich as some of its
competition, such as MS Netmeeting and IRC for example -- both of which
provide this capability.
Cheers,
Aki

XCON will be developing.
The key benefit of session-oriented media that I have been selling
people on is that it is treated identically to that of other media (e.g.
voice and video). Once you start defining alternate or multiple ways to
do things, such as sidebars, then this benefit starts to disintegrate.

Hi:
Aki and me had made a new revision of a draft that discusses how to do
conferences with MSRP. We propose to define a new MSRP method and a
couple of new headers, in addition to a number of conventions.
Although the draft is intended to reach the SIMPLE mailing list, due
to the proposed extensions to MSRP, the subject also falls in the
scope of XCON, and we would be happy to discuss it here as well.
The draft should be officially published soon. In the meantime you can
