Important Concepts: Reboot Sessions and Session IDs

• Syslog has no inherent notion of a session

• A syslog-sign session:

  • From reboot to reboot
  • Anytime device loses context
  • Session ID must be unique for given device!
  • Currently must be superincreasing
  • Probably add pseudorandom session IDs
