IETF 77 YAM Session Notes -- 24 March 2010 Discussion took place Sunday about how the process is working. Consensus appears to be that things are working okay; Alexey feels we should try it with one or two more documents at least to decide whether we should continue to use the current mechanism or not. Barry will rev the 5321bis document after this meeting. Alexey brought up down-references as an issue, referencing RFC3967. "Which criteria are we using to support down-refs?" Also referenced RFC4897 (a BCP) which updates RFC3967. Tony says this shouldn't be an issue going forward because the WG is more carefully ordering its documents. Status update: 1652bis done, 5321bis passed WGLC; next up 5322bis, 4409bis, MIMEbis evals. Early review points: 55322bis (Pete): 1 RFC Editor errata item (ABNF), otherwise ready to go; 4409bis (Randy, John): 2 RFC Editor errata items, other minor errata, reference updates. Randy will update the pre-evaluation template to get IESG signoff. Big question with MIMEbis: Do we update them from 822-BNF to ABNF? Are we still okay with the answer "No"? Barry says "yes"; per Stockholm, we would convert to modern ABNF where practical but not go through and do the whole thing because of too much risk of breakage with such a massive change. HTTPbis went through the same exercise; they recommend an automated way of doing this, but this seems impossible with mail's syntax. Ned prefers only to pursue this matter if there's huge benefit to doing so. 2045 MIME 1 (Ned): minor errata, wordsmithing required 2046 MIME 2 (Ned): 4 technical issues, 3 editorial; minor errata and wordsmithing required; needs alignment with media type registraton procedures (came in a later RFC) 2047 MIME 3 (Keith): 2 technical errata, other minor errata 2049 MIME 5 (Ned): minor errata only No outstanding template changes. SM made some minor tweaks a couple of months ago, so use the latest one in the repository going forward. Breakout sessions with document authors followed. Pete is seeking review of his revisions, and needs various errata to be marked "accepted"; will review with Alexey.
