NFS Version 4 Working Group, IETF 70th, Prague December 5, 2007 Co-chairs: Spencer Shepler and Brian Pawlowski --------------------------------------------------------- Brian greeted everyone and reminded of the bluesheet signup. Tom Talpey reviewed the current state of the RPC/RDMA I-Ds and the issues raised as they move through IESG review. - Problem statement motivates the work - RPC/RDMA is mapping to RDMA - NFS direct is the mapping protocol The problem statement being updated because of IESG comments. Written a long time ago and not published... It has bene requested that mandatory security requirements statements be made in the document. Given the focus on the problem statement, the other I-Ds have not been reviewed by the IESG but there have been preliminary comments. Sam Hartman has been asking for security issues to be handled in some form and is willing to help the working group through the issues but made the statement that the I-D will not be held hostage if effective progress can not be made. Renu/Ellard review/preso of Federated File Systems work A lot of progress has been made in the requirements and other areas with I-Ds being made available along the way. Work seems appropriate for the NFSv4 working group. Note that Lars Eggart (AD) is not concerned with the scope of this work being added to the NFSv4 working group as long as the working group can meet commitments already made on I-D publication. Need to move forward with the work that has already been on the charter and then we can have the discussion of adding more charter items. Mike Eisler reviewed the pNFS review that occurred the night before the working group meeting. Details of the issues and conclusions can be found in his presentation. Spencer quickly reviewed the sets of chagnes that have occurred since the last IETF meeting General discussion of working group last call on NFSv4.1 I-D when it is published in late December. Will likely hold the last call over two months with a split in the content to assist in focus of review.
