IP over DVB (IPDVB) WG IETF-72, Dublin, Ireland WG Chairs: Gorry Fairhurst WG Secretary: Martin Stiemerling jabber: ipdvb@jabber.ietf.org Note-taker at IETF-72: Haitham Cruickshank 1. Agenda Gorry presented the agenda and group status. 2. Document Status RFC 5163 had been published. * IANA request from DVB for code-points for FEC - Laurence Duquerroy, presented by Stephane Combes This described a recent IANA Request for Type allocations from the ULE Registry. The request followed the use of a common registry with GSE [RFC5163]. The DVB-RCS TM had requested a set of 3 codepoints for link layer FEC. The request was currently with IANA. Gorry: Did anyone in the working group have any comments on this request? Gorry: OK. IANA will progress processing of this proposal. 3. Active WG Drafts * IPDVB Security Requirements - Haitham Cruickshank draft-ietf-ipdvb-sec-req-08.txt Haitham mentioned that there are at least one and possibly two reviewers for this draft in the WGLC. Gorry mentioned that he is pleased that all the authors of both security extension headers are now co-authors. 4. Individual Submissions * MIB for RCS - Stephane Combes draft-combes-ipdvb-mib-rcs-03.txt The draft had been updated and had passed the MIB verification tests with only 2 minor warnings. Gorry: How far has the implementation of the MIB progressed? Stephane: Some parts are already implemented. Companies planed to continue implementation over the next 6 months. Gorry: Do we have to wait for this implementation experience to publish the MIB? Stephane: No. The MIB is expected to be correct, we would like to proceed with publications on the next revision. This rev. will fix minor formatting issues. What is the process? Gorry: We will ask the working group to review the MIB. If there are comments this would probably need a new revision, after which the submission should be made to the AD for individual submission. It would then receive AD Review, and MIB doctor review. * ROHC over ULE & MPEG2-TS - Ang Way Chuang, presented by Chair draft-wan-ipdvb-rohc-02.txt A new revision was presented. This was still a work in progress, and another revision was expected after the meeting. Work would also examine the control protocol. Gorry: Where there others interested in progressing this work? If so, please say so on the ipdvb WG list. * Link Security Extension ULEsec draft - Michael Noisternig presented by Chair draft-noisternig-ipdvb-ulesec-01 Presentation described a proposed ULE Security header and prototype implementation in Linux. No questions about this draft. * ULE sec design - Haitham Cruickshank draft-cruickshank-ipdvb-sec-05.txt Haitham mentioned the ULE security extension header will eliminate DoS, Masquerading and other threats. The authors had been experimenting with code in their testbed. Gorry: It seems that we still have two separate proposals on the table although the two sets of authors have now collaborated on common requirements. Is there intention to make a single proposal? Haitham: There are still difference in design approach, but some changes had been made in the last version of their draft (to align the MAC). He expected a converged method may be only few months away. Gorry: What do you expect to happen then? Haitham: The authors plan to come back to IPDVB WG with a new unified security design draft and ask for group approval. The intention was to provide open source running code for the sender and receiver. * Other coordination - Gorry Fairhurst Gorry: The CCSDS WG (responsible for spacecraft communication) had started to define a new encapsulation, that was very close to GSE/ULE. There had been some initial discussion, and collaboration with IP-DVB group would be welcome. End of ipdvb WG meeting
