IETF NTP Working Group Meeting Monday, November 17, 2008, 1740-1800 The meeting was called to order by WG Chairs Karen O’Donoghue and Brian Haberman. Malcolm Airst took the minutes, and Yaakov Stein acted as Jabber Scribe. The jabber log can be found at http:// jabber.ietf.org/logs/ntp/2008-11-17.txt The agenda was presented with no changes. The following documents have been submitted to the IESG: – NTPv4 Protocol Specification (Proposed Standard) – NTP MIB (Proposed Standard) – Autokey (Informational) The following document has completed WG Last Call with comments: – DHCPv6 option There are several open comments from Danny Meyer which must be resolved on the mailing list since neither Danny nor the document editors are present. Karen reviewed Danny’s comments. There were a small number of clarifications identified (summarized in the slides). These could be easily accommodated. The two primary issues are: 1) this option only addresses IPv6 (what is to be done for IPv4); and 2) this option should also be able to optionally distribute keys for use in Autokey. This use of DHCP has not been discussed to date in the NTP WG. Greg Dowd indicated that perhaps the key distribution option could be addressed at a later date. Karen indicated that this was currently outside the scope of the working group. With Danny and the editors not present, the mailing list will be used to resolve these comments. Any disagreements with Danny’s comments should be stated on the mailing list. Upon resolution of these comments, the NTP WG will hold a one week working group last call. The final agenda item was the future of the NTP WG. Potential follow-on work has been identified. This includes Mode 6 commands (Annex B in RFC 1305 is not covered in the current text). The plan is to create an informational RFC to cover this material. The NTP mailing list will stay active till all charter items are published as RFCs. All new work items will go to TICTOC. The meeting was adjourned.
