IETF 75 RMT WG Minutes Tuesday, 28 July 2009 ========================================================== 1) Agenda Bashing The agenda was accepted 2) WG Progress The status of RMT WG documents was reviewed. * DOCUMENT STATUS - PUBLISHED - RFC 5510 - Reed Solomon Forward Error Correction (FEC) Schemes - SUBMITTED FOR PUBLICATION: - draft-ietf-rmt-pi-norm-revised-13 (in IESG Review) - draft-ietf-rmt-bb-lct-revised-10 (in IESG Review) - draft-ietf-rmt-pi-alc-revised-07 (AD evaluation) - draft-ietf-rmt-flute-revised-06 - draft-ietf-rmt-sec-discussion-03 (needs Chair attention) The WG chairs had prepared a write-up for the last revision after WGLC. This would now be submitted to the AD. The document needed to be resubmitted and would then proceed to AD evaluation. - READY FOR WORKING GROUP LAST CALL - draft-ietf-rmt-simple-auth-for-alc-norm-01 - UPDATED DRAFTS: - draft-roca-rmt-newfcast-05 3) NORM Update 5 min - Brian Adamson - draft-ietf-rmt-pi-norm-13 Norm security issues were discussed and the possibility of conflicts in the uniqueness of the Norm Node ID. In current deployments, the 32-bit field had not been an issue. There were issues with detecting duplicate IDs for SSM. Magnus commented that in RTP using SSM the collisions are reported back to the group, but that this would need another protocol function. Brian reported that it could have been interesting (in retrospect) to have had a plug-able node ID that could have then included a combination of IP and port numbers. There were no other comments on what was best. 4) LCT/ALC Update 5 min - Mark Watson - draft-ietf-rmt-bb-lct-10 - draft-ietf-rmt-pi-alc-07 Also the "Simple Authentication" drafts is ready and can be used as a normative reference. 5) "FCAST Update" 15 min - Brian Adamson/ Vincent Roca - draft-roca-rmt-newfcast-05 Vincent spoke about the TOI equivalence list carried in the Carousel Instance object, which lists the set of objects. The FCAST document is now almost finished and waiting wider review by the WG. A new revision will be ready and this is now ready for a WGLC (if this were to be accepted as a WG work item). Brian: This is proposed as an experimental specification. There were a number of notes of interest on the list. The document also had a number of interesting features that illustrate the use of the RMT framework. Magnus: I looked at the Charter text last meeting, and I shall now need to contact the IESG and see if FCAST can be taken-on as a work item within this WG. I will get back soon. The meeting closed at 16:00.
