Thoerless: The goal of the implementation is to provide ASM service that is dynamically instantiated via native or overlay multicast, correct?

Matthias: Yes, but SSM is also supported

Thoerless: Is there support for ASM over SSM?

Matthias: No, but tp come in future work

Thomas: Which implementation experiences had feedback for API design?

Matthias: Some API calls had been changed.

Thomas: You use IP-Multicast addresses at the IP layer. How do you assure that packets are delivered to switching nodes without interference with IP-Layer multicast routing activities?

Sun: IP-layer transmission needs to be defined

Thoerless: What is the analysisis of the problem you are trying to solve?

Sun: this is a project for IPTV with China Telecom

Thoerless: What would not work with existing protocols and technologies of today?

Sun: Monitoring of intermediate distribution nodes, important for IPTV & service quality assurance

Thoerless: Why not use RTP?

Sun: RTP is not part of the network stack, applications do not support point-to-multipoint distribution

Wang: What is the label distribution mode: centralized or distributed?

Sun: Centralized.


4. Presentation CERNET IPv6 multicast design and deployment (Xing)

Thoerless: Does your access grid support IPv6 + SSM?

Xing: Only ASM

Thoerless: What are the main IPv6 hinderences - IPv6-supporting Apps or the campus routing?

Xing: Continued use of IPv4 is just convenient, people don't care.

Thoerless: How many IPv6-enabled campuses do you have?

Xing: 200 out of 2.000

Thoerless: Is multicast translation specified in IVI?

Xing: Not yet

Thoerless: Do you want to propose this?

Xing: Yes, together with Stig in Behave.

Thomas: Are your ASM/SSM gateways self-implemented or standard components?

Xing: Self-implemented, no standard components available yet.

Stig: I would like to hear more details on technical specifications in mboned

Xing: The gateway developer is here, you can ask more detailed questions to him

Thomas: Should take additional information to the list

Thomas: Finish RG adoption call for common-Api draft?

Thoerless: Nothing agains adoption, just wondering wheter it might interfere with NBS activities

Thomas: API specifications should then be broutht into IETF in a revised status

Thomas: Transport approaches - shouldn't transport people go for a problem statement / requirements analysis?

Sun: Yes, can work on a problem statement

Thomas: Should be taken to list to include other transport activities
