IETF email service transition completed on 24 February

14 Feb 2025

The IETF email processing infrastructure transition planned for 0900-1100 UTC on 24 February has been completed.

During the transition, delivery of messages to addresses at ietf.org, iab.org, irtf.org, iesg.org, and rfc-editor.org, including email lists, were paused. We believe all mail sent to our addresses during the transition were delivered shortly after the transition was complete.

This transition took place from 0900-1300 UTC on 24 February 2025.

The new system is being closely monitored for anything unexpected. If you see something that doesn't look like it should, please report it to support@ietf.org.

The transition is part of the project to move to a new cloud infrastructure for our email and mailing list systems. This step was undertaken by Sirius Open Source, the company previously selected to migrate the IETF’s email processing systems. During this step, the underlying mail processing infrastructure remain fundamentally the same. Future work is planned to take better advantage of modern cloud technologies for our mail processing.

No other IETF systems were affected during this transition.
