How much time attention it needs: not a lot.=C2=A0 It's a short d= raft that mostly builds on the earlier PIE work.
What type of skills needed: "transporty" interactions with applications.

And I'll take it from there to find a reviewer.=C2=A0 What happen= s next is that I'll assign a reviewer.=C2=A0 The idea is to find problem= s earlier rather later.

Thanks very much in advance!

Just pick one draft off the list below and send it round when= you've done.  If it takes you more than 10 minutes, something's proba= bly gone wrong.

Here's the list:

draft-ietf-aqm-docsis-pie-00.txt
draft-ietf-avtext-sdes-hdr-ext-00.txt
draft-ietf-bess-mvpn-pe-ce-00.txt
draft-ietf-calext-availability-00.txt

This is a short (7 pages) draft.

The proposed status is a “Standards Track̶= 1; although, in essence,  it is a list of guidelines based on mechanisms defined in existing R= FCs or drafts.

The “recommendations/guidelines” are arr= anged in three groups – each applicable to a different “type= 221; of a SIP B2B media relay:

<= span style=3D"mso-list:Ignore">-        media non-aware

<= span style=3D"mso-list:Ignore">-        media aware with header inspection only (and= no payload inspection/modification)

<= span style=3D"mso-list:Ignore">-        media aware with headers modification (and n= o payload inspection/modification)

While the use cases=   behind each of the technical approaches might be well-known, = the motivation behind “standardizing” each one separately (with= a different set of MUSTs & SHOULDs!) is not clear to me.

The Security Considerations section reads as a ̶= 0;placeholder” at this time, although the whole document is about sec= urity and privacy considerations.

Most of the Informative References need to be Normat= ive; this is especially important for rfc4474bis and jones-avtcore drafts t= hat are in the core of the guidelines.

A few more specific comments:

Section 3.3 the paragraph before the last=

“… MUST ensure that it does not modify a= ny of the headers used to construct the signature.” It would be helpf= ul to actually analyze the provided references and compile a list of header= s that the relay MUST NOT modify.

Section 3.2.2

“This security and privacy problem can be addr= essed by … as discussed in [I-D.jones-avtcore-private-media-reqts],&#= 8230;”

This needs to be (re)phrased as a normative statemen= t.

Orit.

Hi everyone,

For those of you who weren't at the AppsArea lunch, one topic was apps reviews.=C2=A0 We would= like to try an experiment, which is to both identify the skills needed for a proper review and a reviewer early in the life cycle of a working group draft.=C2=A0 What follows is a list= of recently published -00 working group drafts.=C2=A0= I wonder if people could volunteer to just quickly scan one of the following drafts, and email back to the group only the following information:=

  • The draft filename (draft-ietf-wg...-00.txt)
  • A gut feel as to how much attention it will need (and why)
  • The sorts of apps area skills required to properly do the review.=C2=A0 To ge= t a feel for what people have listed, just go to our favorite little wiki and look in the expertise column.

Just pick one draft off the list below and send it round when you've done.=C2=A0 If it takes you more = than 10 minutes, something's probably gone wrong.

Here's the list:

draft-ietf-aqm-docsis-pie-00.txt
draft-ietf-avtext-sdes-hdr-ext-00.txt
draft-ietf-bess-mvpn-pe-ce-00.txt
draft-ietf-calext-availability-00.txt
draft-ietf-calext-extensions-00.txt

draft-ietf-dime-4over6-provisioning-00.txt
draft-ietf-i2rs-rib-data-model-00.txt
draft-ietf-kitten-pkinit-alg-agility-00.txt
draft-ietf-opsec-ipv6-eh-filtering-00.txt
draft-ietf-sfc-nsh-00.txt
draft-ietf-straw-b2bua-dtls-srtp-00.txt
draft-ietf-tokbind-https-00.txt
draft-ietf-tokbind-protocol-00.txt
draft-ietf-trill-arp-optimization-00.txt

I'm going to pull the first one of the top as an example:

Name: draft-ietf-aqm-docsis-pie-00.txt
How much time attention it needs: not a lot.=C2=A0 = It's a short draft that mostly builds on the earlier PIE work.
What type of skills needed: "transporty" interactions with applications.

And I'll take it from there to find a reviewer.=C2=A0= What happens next is that I'll assign a reviewer.=C2= =A0 The idea is to find problems earlier rather later.<= o:p>

Thanks very much in advance!

The initial review indicates that model contains aspects of calendaring, something you know a lot about. As a reminder, the templates for reviews are at http://trac.tools.ietf.org/area/app/trac/wiki/template. This is an early review (we are moving to a model where they all are). As such, using the WGLC template seems best, but omitting the WGLC date. If you can let me know by Friday whether you can do this, that would be great. The review would be due around the 1 May 2015.
