You should only need to set up a link in one direction for the routes to work. I've reattached the config files you sent with a few changes made to the routing section and a bunch of the comments striped out.

If you telnet into port 5050 and run 'link dump' and 'route dump' it will tell you what connections are available.

Hope this helps,
Aidan

Dear All,

I was trying to implement DTN2 on my laptop. My problem in building larger networks is as follow :

My problem :

I have two virtual machines of red hat linux on my laptop. In both VMs, I installed DTN2.

As in each of them, I run the command “dtnping localhost” It works fine.

Also if I send e message using “dtnsend” command, I can receive the message by “dtnrecv” command.

Also I can ping one virtual machine from other VM using the regular ping command.

The problem is when I try to ping one VM from other VM using “dtnping” command, I don’t get any replies.

Also I can’t send any message using  “dtnsend” command from one VM to other VM.

You can find dtn.conf files of both VMs attached.

I would be very glad if you can help me.

Best Regards,

Maziar

Hi Maziar,

You should only need to set up a link in one direction for the routes to wo= rk. I've reattached the config files you sent with a few changes made to th= e routing section and a bunch of the comments striped out.

If you telnet into port 5050 and run 'link dump' and 'route dump' it will t= ell you what connections are available.

Hope this helps,
Aidan

You might want to make sure there isn’t a firewall on the VM host that is blocking DTN.  Also double check the firewalls on your VMs to make sure they allow DTN traffic in.

Hi Aidan,

Thank you for your reply.

I tried as you said. But unfortunately it didn’t work. I checked the routes using route dump. Link in one direction is available. But when I send a dtnping message, It expires and link status changes to UNAVAILABLE.

Maziar

A new release of IBR-DTN is available. The debian and openwrt repositories are already updated. Furthermore, we've got good news for friends of OSX. The new release is ported to OSX with the MacPorts framework. A short howto for the installation is provided on the download page. ### New features ### * MacOS X support * Group support for dtnsend, dtnrecv and dtnstream * Support for the Scope Control Hop Limit Block added http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-fall-dtnrg-schl-00 (uses extension block id 199 since id 9 is already reserved by BSP) * TLS extension for TCP convergence layer by Stephen R=F6ttger * New config option: "net_autoconnect" to keep up / reconnect to available TCP connections ### Improvements ### * New dtnstream options "-w" wait for the bundle with the seq. no. zero. By default, the stream starts with the first received bundle. * New API framework (supports Groups) * SQLiteStorage provides own BLOBs and uses hard-links to copy bundle payload * Renamed CONN_ZIGBEE broadcast/multicast address * Retransmission Module: Exponential back-off fix * Now a transfer is aborted if the node is gone For more information visit this page: Highlights include: 2.8.0 (August 2011) ----------------- - Added the ability for the DTN2 router component to modify locally-generated bundles before they are delivered to local registrations (destination applications that use the same DTN2 daemon as the sender). - Added support for transactionalized access to the DTN2 database used to store metadata (bundle headers and application registration information). - Added support for ODBC databases as a peer to the other database types provided with the base open-source distribution (e.g. file-based, BerkeleyDB). - Added support for flexible and efficient synchronization to disk, allowing the implementation to run in ACI (atomicity, consistency, isolation) mode with synchronization to disk (ACID mode) with every Nth transaction. - For the ODBC database implementation, added support for loading external (non-DTN2) schema for on database initialization. - Ensured that all required data structures are in fact synchronized to disk. - Added the ability for applications to acknowledge receipt of bundles to the DTN2 stack. - Added support for a class of DTN router-private (or any DTN component-private) event types. - Augmented the DTN2 application registration mechanism to allow applications to provide their own unique token on registration (to support applications with no local storage). - Modified the oasys locking and debugging infrastructure to allow non-oasys threads to take locks without hanging the debugging machinery. - Added support for nested event processing. - Changed DTN2's DAEMON_SHUTDOWN event to NOT be a daemon-only event. - Fixed a bug in the bundle find functions to prevent problems searching for bundles that are in the process of being deleted. - Fixed a bug in the bundle metadata processing to ensure that metadata blocks for locally- generated bundles are correctly restored when the DTN2 daemon is restarted. - Fixed a bug in the DTN2 IP Discovery module that was setting the socket options incorrectly (more specifically, setting the correct option for the wrong socket) and generating copious warnings in the log file. - miscellaneous bug fixes - dtnd-control augmentations for query of dtnd - Support for the age extension block draft-irtf-dtnrg-bundle-age-block-01 - Logging changes from the N4C summer 2010 trials. Facilitates tracing a bundle across multiple nodes without debug logging by providing bundle creation time. - IPN naming scheme support - Compressed Bundle Header Encoding (CBHE) support - Update file/class/internal names to BSP draft - Addition of AX.25 Connected Mode CL and the SeqpacketConvergenceLayer abstraction. ~Alex [1] http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/79/DTNRG.html _______________________________________________ dtn-users mailing list dtn-users@irtf.org https://www.irtf.org/mailman/listinfo/dtn-users
