This is a draft workshop program, subject to change through the end of the workshop. # Monday 26 January The goal for the first day is to bring everyone together for discussion in three broad areas: the larger picture of stack ossification (including the technical and economic context thereof), detailed effects of middlebox deployment on the problem, and transport layer details of the problem. ## 09:00 - 09:15: Welcome; workshop format and goals ## 09:15 - 10:00: Introduction round One minute per person based on the questionnaire sent out this week. ## 10:00 - 10:45: The Bigger Picture What is the problem, how did we get here, and how can we get out? ## 10:45 - 11:15: Coffee break ## 11:15 - 12:45: The Bigger Picture: Discussion ## 12:45 - 14:15: Lunch Monday's lunch will take place at FoodLab, ETH CAB (Old Chemistry Building). ## 14:15 - 15:30: The Role and Rule of Middleboxes A discussion of the problem centered on the path: - what are the network- and service-observable impacts of middleboxes in the wild? - how do these affect efforts to deploy new services? ## 15:30 - 16:00: Coffee Break ## 16:00 - 17:45: Unbreaking Transport A discussion of the problem centered on the transport, probably based on lightning talks around existing proposed solutions. ## 17:45 - 18:00 Close of Day 1 Wrapup of discussions, initial discussion of Day 2 agenda ## 19:30 - Social Dinner, sponsored by the Internet Society Le Dezaley, Römergasse 7, le-dezaley.ch. The agenda here is more free-form, as we presume we'll better understand what we want to do with the second day after the first. The intention here is to do some initial design work, referring work as necessary to existing IETF WGs and IRTF RGs, potentially starting on charters for additional work that should be done in the IETF/IRTF. ## 9:00 - 9:15 Agenda Bash Wherein we assign tasks to slots and generally invalidate the rest of the agenda. ## 9:15 - 10:45 Slot One ## 10:45 - 11:00 Coffee Break ## 11:00 - 12:30 Slot Two ## 13:00 - 14:30 Lunch Lunch will take place in the Dozentenfoyer, ETH HG (Main Building). ## 14:30 - 15:30 Next steps, concluding remarks, and action items Signing up people to get stuff done. ## 15:30 - 16:00 Coffee for Those Who Want It ## 16:00 - 18:00 Breakout Starting to get said stuff done in smaller groups, for those who want to.
