[01:21:26] <Ted Lemon> deterministic pointy-haired boss?
[01:21:46] <danielking.net> Howdy Folks, I'll be (attempting) to channel jabber comments and questions via the mic. Please be gentle, it's not my specialist subject area. :-)
[01:22:36] Fuyou Miao leaves the room
[01:22:41] Fuyou Miao joins the room
[01:25:57] Lars joins the room
[01:29:19] <danielking.net> That's Bob Briscoe at the mic.
[01:30:16] sowmini varadhan joins the room
[01:32:44] <danielking.net> Pascal Thubert at the mic.
[01:34:36] hildjj joins the room
[01:34:52] sowmini varadhan leaves the room
[01:35:01] <danielking.net> Lars Eggert at the mic.
[01:36:03] <danielking.net> Pat Thaler at the mic.
[01:36:39] <danielking.net> David (?) at the mic.
[01:37:14] <hildjj> are we still doing clarifying questions only?
[01:37:33] sowmini varadhan joins the room
[01:37:37] <Ted Lemon> In principle yes.
[01:39:42] sowmini varadhan leaves the room
[01:40:19] sowmini varadhan joins the room
[01:51:16] david Perkins joins the room
[01:51:52] <Lars> i guess we are "setting the context" to "the solution"?
[01:52:28] <Ted Lemon> Dunno.   This is a little more detail than we got in the leadership meeting.
[01:52:55] <Ted Lemon> We knew coming into this that the IEEE had a layer 2 solution, so I guess hearing what it is is useful.
[01:53:20] <Lars> yeah, no question the ieee has done a lot of work here and it works pretty well
[01:53:35] <Lars> but we don't have much of this at the ip layer
[01:54:04] <Ted Lemon> yup.   that's why we're having this conversation.
[01:54:39] <Ted Lemon> 6tisch is doing work that's related to this, in an IoT context.
[01:55:00] <Lars> i'm not optimistic about the set of things we'd need to add to ip being finite. but maybe there'll be a miracle at the end of this.
[01:55:04] <Ted Lemon> What they are doing is just time-domain multiplexing, though.
[01:55:10] <Ted Lemon> heh
[01:58:55] david Perkins leaves the room
[01:59:07] <hildjj> He did say that he needed protocols to pass around the information about queue sizes and latencies.
[01:59:16] <hildjj> that's a protocol in our layers.
[01:59:23] <danielking.net> Next Presentation - Scoping the work  (Pascal Thubert)
[01:59:29] David Perkins joins the room
[02:01:51] <David Perkins> can someone zoom out the camera or re-position it so we can see the speaker's face
[02:02:18] <hildjj> so they also need non-shortest-path parallel routing.
[02:04:44] <danielking.net> Re: Speaker Faces - I will pass on the request to the chairs David. The speakers are wondering around with a wireless mic at the moment.
[02:07:48] sunseawq joins the room
[02:09:44] <Lars> so the one thing i really don't get is why they need IP here. i mean, couldn't they stitch together connected L2 islands in some way? it's not like any of this is going to work over a hop that doesn't fully implement all this underlying stuff.
[02:10:06] <Ted Lemon> Please ask that question at the mic when the time comes.   I think it's an important question.
[02:10:18] <Lars> will do
[02:10:22] <Ted Lemon> th
[02:10:23] <Ted Lemon> thx

[03:18:03] <danielking.net> Any remote participants would like to ask a question? I can channel at the mic.
