[21:56:32] <rdroms> Regarding DNS-SD for IoT, the charter includes this text:
In addition, the "Smart Energy Profile 2 Application Protocol Standard",
published by ZigBee Alliance and HomePlug Powerline Alliance specifies
the DNS-SD/mDNS protocol suite as the basis for its method of zero
configuration service discovery.  However, its use of wireless mesh
multi-link subnets in conjunction with traditional routed networks will
require extensions to the DNS-SD/mDNS protocols to allow operation
across multiple links.
[21:57:31] <Dave Thaler> DNS-SD over DNS works fine across multiple links

[22:37:16] <suzworldwide> Andrew Sullivan suggests a document clarifying DNS split-horizon. Ralph agrees we might need one and suggests DNSOP. /me cringes, but is interested in the idea.
[22:38:16] <rdroms> My suggestion to do the work in dnsop acted as a wake-on-reference packet to TimW (up in the front of the room).
[22:38:41] <suzworldwide> You definitely got both his attention and mine, yes :)

[23:07:30] <Dave Thaler> ted needs to co-author a doc with Dan Romascanu so it can be draft-tldr-...
[23:07:33] Pierre PFISTER leaves the room
[23:09:39] <suzworldwide> When Ted and Ralph wrote their first draft of what became the DNSOP special use names problem statement, it was draft-tldr-....not aparticularly long way to diverge from reality for the sake of a good acronym :)
[23:10:11] Roger Murray leaves the room
[23:10:15] <Dave Thaler> sounds like tldr was a special use name then
[23:10:42] <suzworldwide> oh we've now reached *that* point in the meeting....

[23:16:58] <ajs> I am probably dimmer than most people by now, but I feel like this discussion all touches on stuff relevant to DNS-SD but is of a different scope
[23:21:23] <ajs> Several of these questions feel like it’s not clear what problem is _wanted_ to be solved, which worries me.
[23:22:13] <dee3> DNS-SD and IoT
[23:25:34] <rdroms> ajs - it may be that Ted assumes familiarity with the homenet requirements, and hasn't stated them explicitly here.
[23:27:15] <ajs> Well, I am familiar with those requirements, and I still feel that way :)  The problem I suspect is that the requirements are not strictly speaking accurate.  But I’ll try harder.  Maybe my brain will be less soft after Friday.
