[16:00:29] <Sean Leonard> Mic (to group): Is algorithm agility / cryptographic diversity, in themselves, justifiable reasons? Because this issue *always* comes up, seems like once a decade...
[16:01:43] <Sean Leonard> (I think there is a software testing rationale...namely if SHA-1 is now obsolete, still need more algorithms that are deployABLE (whether or not actually deployed) to test modularity and interoperability, therefore yields better software quality
[16:01:46] <Sean Leonard> )
[16:02:36] <Sean Leonard> 8) SITH RULE OF TWO
[16:03:56] <Philip Lafrance> Its more than just "we have a replacement algorithm just in case it breaks". There are also considerations such has how fast the algs are in hardware. SHAKE and BLAKE etc have really good uses in constrained devices or places without other hardware acceleration.
[16:04:19] Mike Jenkins joins the room

[16:20:58] <Sean Leonard> Mic: I'd like to see or at least *compare* with date that the organization was established. (The point being, that's probably more actionable for an end user...) for a computer, if continuity is desired, a pointer to the prior cert/private key would be far more actionable.
[16:24:40] cw-ietf joins the room
