[07:35:08] <gorryf> Hi I’m gorry fairhurst... and the Jabber scribe for TAPS
[07:35:36] <gorryf> Do remote people hear Aaron doing the TAPS status slide?
[07:35:37] Kyle Rose joins the room
[07:37:01] <Michael Welzl> yes, audio and video is fine
[07:39:01] Spencer Dawkins joins the room
[07:39:12] <gorryf> Mirja (as AD): Did we decide to publish as two docs or one?
[07:40:22] Theresa Enghardt joins the room
[07:42:08] Brian Trammell joins the room
[07:45:16] <gorryf> Next up: Naeem
[07:45:43] <gorryf> Name is presenting for Stein/Michael W (Minset)
[07:46:23] <Kyle Rose> +100 on the confidence screens. Huge improvement over having to memorize your talk, or constantly turn away from the mic.
[07:47:27] ANM Zaheduzzaman Sarker joins the room
[07:55:10] Matti Klock leaves the room
[07:56:54] mklock joins the room
[07:59:42] <gorryf> Questions:
[08:00:05] <gorryf> Mirja Kuehlewind:
[08:00:33] <gorryf> I think this is completely different to what I expected...
[08:00:55] <gorryf> Michael on jabber:
[08:02:31] herver leaves the room: Stream closed by us: Replaced by new connection (conflict)
[08:02:32] herver joins the room
[08:02:58] <gorryf> I don’t want to specify this as an API.
[08:03:03] <gorryf> Brian Trammel:
[08:05:40] <gorryf> Should we call it the Minset abstract interface? (rather than API)
[08:06:07] <gorryf> Tommy Pauly:
[08:06:43] <gorryf> This seems the correct starting point, I think we should adopt.
[08:12:23] <gorryf> Spencer Dawkins (AD):
[08:13:16] <gorryf> Anna Brunstrom:
[08:13:45] <gorryf> Phillipp Tiesel:
[08:14:01] xu hao joins the room
[08:15:44] <gorryf> Colin Perkins:
[08:15:55] ANM Zaheduzzaman Sarker leaves the room
[08:17:35] <gorryf> Kyle Rose:
[08:18:13] <gorryf> Bob M:
[08:18:34] <Spencer Dawkins> I won't say this at the mike because Aaaron and Zahed are running a clock, but  (speaking as an individual) I agree with Tommy that fall-back shouldn't be TCP-specific. Aaron asked if there were other ubiquitous transport protocols that would work; today, the answer might be "no", but one of the points of TAPS for me is that there may be more in the future ...
[08:20:58] <Kyle Rose> at the mic: Dmitri ?
[08:22:56] <gorryf> Hum for adoption next:
[08:23:10] xu hao leaves the room
[08:23:19] <gorryf> Few dozen for - one against
[08:23:43] Philipp S. Tiesel joins the room
[08:24:50] <gorryf> Chris Wood: (transport sec)
[08:25:08] Brian Trammell leaves the room
[08:27:20] Theresa Enghardt leaves the room
[08:32:50] xu hao joins the room
[08:40:27] <gorryf> Tommy (sec interface to TAPS)
[08:41:09] <Michael Welzl> Spencer: the minset isn't designing or proposing one particular API - it's just saying, IF you want to be able to fall back to TCP, this is the minimum functionality that you should offer. I thought about including UDP, but it would have made the document even longer, so for now I didn't do that... either way, you end up with a different minset for each possible fall-back. If folks want me to add a specific fall-back (UDP, then?), I can do that (at the cost of significant document length), but I guess this is a discussion for the list.
[08:44:05] xu hao leaves the room
[08:44:22] emile stephan joins the room

[09:04:25] Theresa Enghardt leaves the room
[09:06:13] <Philipp S. Tiesel> Proposal: "TAPS is not chartered to perform detailed analysis of the security
aspects of transport protocols. While security can be a transport
service, TAPS will analyse the transport and configuration interfaces of transport security protocols and include them in TAPS Transport Services"

[09:28:04] <gorryf> Anna Brunstrom:
[09:41:27] <Spencer Dawkins> Just for the record, for those who twitch every time they hear someone say "API" https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc793 calls that a User Interface, so there is prior art on terminology here.
[09:44:02] <Theresa Enghardt> I am missing "current network performance" when we are talking about using/deciding between multiple interfaces.
[09:44:41] <Theresa Enghardt> Or maybe that's part of the system capabilities
[09:48:31] Xiaojian Ding leaves the room
[09:55:07] Spencer Dawkins leaves the room
[09:55:44] <gorryf> If there are points for the “mic” that you wish me to relay - just be sure to tag the comment with “mic:”
