The intent of this liaison statement is to inform the IETF of ongoing work in ITU-T Study Group 15 Question 2 which involves the proposed use of IETF xDSL MIBs.

In Q2/15, we have been considering the management of passive optical network (PON) Optical Network Units (ONUs) with xDSL interfaces.  Part of the work being discussed includes a proposal to translate IETF xDSL MIBs (from IETF RFC 2662, IETF RFC 3440, and IETF draft for VDSL MIB) into managed entities compatible with the ONT Management and Control Interface (OMCI). This would allow the Optical Line Termination (OLT) to provision and access various features specific to xDSL interfaces via the OMCI.  It is intended to standardize this work through ITU-T Q2/15.

Your comments on this Liaison will be kindly appreciated, for example by means of an official reply, by 30 January 2004.
