SG 13 wishes to inform IETF on our current progress in the L1 VPN services area.

At the ITU-T meeting in Geneva (Switzerland), SG 13 has initialised the following draft Recommendation on L1 VPN service requirements, definitions, scenarios and architecture :

·        Y.l1vpnsdr (Layer1 Virtual Private Network Generic Requirements and Architectures)

The document may be found at http://www.itu.int/ITU-T/studygroups/com13/ip/sg13-ietf-ftp.html

The content of this draft Recommendation is provisionally agreed as a whole in the target of consent at the next 2003 SG 13 meeting.

In addition, the attached document is a Q.11/13 living list item regarding service architecture classification for Layer 1 VPN, which is currently under study.

Q.11/13 recognizes that your work may be valuable input for the progress on L1 VPNs in general, and in particular on L1 VPN service  architectures, and is hoping that you will support such activity in a timely manner, e.g. the next Q.11/13 meeting scheduled for March 31-4 April 2003 in Sophia Antipolis, France.
