The 1997 Amendment 1 to
ITU-T Rec. X.213 | ISO/IEC 8348 was made to enable an address whose format is
identified by an IANA Internet Code Point (ICP) to be carried in an NSAP address.
The IANA Internet Code Point carried in the Initial Domain Identifier (IDI) is
used to identify the particular Internet Protocol addressing format of the IP
address that is carried in the Domain Specific Part (DSP) of the NSAP.
A review of the text of
Amendment 1 to Rec. X.213 | ISO /IEC8348 indicates that the text requires
clarification. It is the intention
of SG 7 to revise the text of Rec. X.213 | ISO/IEC 8348
To make the text more user
friendly it has been suggested that the most relevant 4 digit numeric IANA ICP
codes could be listed in the text of the Recommendation. In particular ICPs for IPV4 and IPV6
addresses are considered to be essential information that should be listed.
We wished to know the values
of the Internet Code Points that have been allocated to the IPV4 and IPV6
address formats and an authoritative reference to where the codes are
listed. If allocations of ICPs
have not yet been made to IPV4 and IPV6 address we request this action be
undertaken.
Attached is Amendment 1 to
Rec. X.213 | ISO/IEC 8348.
Any comments in regard to
revising the text of Amendment 1 to X.213 would be appreciated.
