Subject: Establishing Liaison Relationship between the MFA
and the IETF

Dear Mr. Cherukuri,

Thank you for your communication on establishing a liaison between the 
IETF the MFA. We recognize the mutual interest in keeping the 
communication between the two organizations open. In our discussions on 
this topic we have been told that the MFA is in a process that if 
successful will result in a merger between MFA and ATM Forum (ATMF).
The IETF has a well-established liaison with ATMF and there doesn't seem 
to be a reason to think that this will change as a result of a merger. 
Please let us know when the merger is complete and the IAB (the IETF 
committee that deals with liaison relationships) will revisit this issue 
and (re)-appoint the liaison from our side.
