This mailing list is for discussion about Identifier Locator Addressing (ILA) and the possibility of forming a working group around this topic. ILA is a type of identifier/locator split. It leverages the large address space of IPv6 to split addresses into a locator component and identifier component. This allows the implemenation of network overlays and network virtualization without the overhead and complexity of encapsulation. ILA has some similarity to ILNP, however unlike ILNP is completely contained in the network layer. There are two primary use cases of ILA: - network and datacenter virtualization - mobile networks This group is expected to focus on high performing, scalable, privacy aware, and secure solutions and protocols using identifier/locator split and ILA. These solutions and protocols could be used/implemented in other SDO architectures (e.g. 3GPP 5G architecture). To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the ila Archives.

Subscribing to ila
