• 1 bit Transition field

  • Toggling indicates a change in the end-to-end flow parameters
  • Parameters are signaled with a control protocol (SIP, H.323)
  • Implies maximum 1 change per RTT
    • Infrequent parameter changes during the call
  • Intermediate nodes not concerned with end-to-end parameters
