Caching Proposal: Why?

• Need to say something about caching

• Current spec doesn’t say anything

• Saying “V3 or Whatever”, doesn’t work

• Mandatory locking

• Caching must not break share reservations or locking

• Performance Issues

• Locking is a respectable first-class citizen (cache consistency NYI/NI)

• Avoid going to server so often (oplocks)
