• Define the data structures by which a PDP downloads policies to PEP, eg. in COPS-PR

• PIB at a higher-level than a MIB

  • lower-level than schema

• a PIB is configuration-only (+ capabilities)

• a MIB is device-specific (eg. DiffServ MIB)

• a PIB contains network-wide policies:

  • eg. roles v. interfaces

• PIB is additional (not replacement for) a MIB
