• OLS: Optical Line System

• OXC: Optical Cross Connect (either transparent or opaque)

• PXC: Transparent Optical Cross Connect

• Service Delivery Platform: E.g., Router, ATM Switch SONET ADM

• OLS Client:

  • Any device plugged into an OLS that uses it’s services to transport data
  • Could be an OXC, PXC, or service delivery platform
