Attack 2.1.1. Attack An assault on system security that derives from an intelligent threat, i.e., an intelligent act that is a deliberate attempt (especially in the sense of a method or technique) to evade security services and violate the security policy of a system. Attack can be active or passive, by insider or by outsider, or via attack mediator. Proposed: Attack can be active, resulting in the alteration of data, or passive, resulting in the release of data, by an actor. |
