Long-term Archive and Notary Services (LTANS) WG Meeting : IETF 68, TUESDAY, March 20, 2007. Location: Hilton Prague, room Karlin II, 1850-1950. Chairs : Tobias Gondrom , Carl Wallace Jabber : ltans@jabber.ietf.org URL : http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/ltans-charter.html Approximately 20 people attended the meeting in person 1 person not physically attending participated via Jabber Introduction/Preliminary stuff (slides: ltans-0.ppt) The current document suite was reviewed. The Requirements document passed IETF LC and will be released as informational RFC 4810. ERS is currently in IESG review. The WG will now focus on LTAP and the XML representations of ERS and LTAP. Work proceeds with ERS/SCVP and PKI Retention aiming to start WGLC in April. The two drafts validate (related to preserving verification data) and ARI (architecture of LTA Services) will continue but require review/feedback. (Decision on whether these documents shall be continued as WG items is open at the moment.) Milestone Review (slides: ltans-1.ppt) Most milestones are a little late, but close to the targets established in San Diego. Reqs draft ready for publication as RFC 4810. New milestones will be added for XML representation documents. LTAP and ERS/SCVP will start WGLC in April. ARI and VALIDATE still need discussion/review to proceed. Plan for working group shutdown by December 2007. LTAP update (slides: ltans-6.ppt) draft-ietf-ltans-ltap-04 has been posted recently. Next version 05 is already in work to adopt changes for XML representation. Short discussion about compatbility of the variou sASN.1 modules and the XML Schema. There has been a short discussion about whether WG should use more “current” ASN.1 instead of 88-ASN.1 in their modules (and which one to make normative and which informative if both are provided). Argument to use 88-ASN.1 as normative at the moment, is that there is still no free ASN.1 compiler fully capable of 1997/2002-ASN.1. Counter argument is that there exists asn1c. AD pointed out that this compiler has been evaluated and still had some deficiencies. Validation document updates (slides: ltans-2.ppt) draft-ietf-ltans-validate-01 has been posted. It describes which verficiation data should be stored and where in the structures for data that shall be stored (and verifiable) for an infinite time. XMLERS - status and presentation (slides: ltans-3.ppt) Shhort introduction of version 00 of draft-ietf-ltans-xmlers-00.txt. The document covers the XML representation of ERS with some differences to the ERS ASN.1 structure. SHould be further discussed on the list. Implementation of ERS by Fraunhofer: Archisoft (slides: ltans-4.ppt) Michael Herfert form Fraunhofer presented their implementation of a product that shall use/support ERS. There have been compatibility tests for ERS between Open Text and Fraunhofer. There may arise some questions whether LTAP can server as protocol for their implememtation and/or whether LTAP can get feedback froM Fraunhofer based on their experience with their proprietory protocol. Use of other timestamp formats with ERS (slides: ltans-5.ppt) Last item on the agenda was to discuss about the usage of non-RFC3161 TS in ERS. (this item had to be deferred to the mailing-list due to time constraints.)
