Failure Detection Hello message (section 7.4) It can be sent off-link for global recovery, while RA or any message sent to on-link cannot be used for geographical home-link separation Hello message is a part of MIP6 HA specification. MIP6 stack failure can be detected. If RA or VRRP are used, a node failure (address unreachability) is only detected. RA cannot be sent frequently enough detect the failure. Interworking with VRRP (section 7.10) VRRP can replace the failure detection using Hello message. MIP6 states exchange is operated by the HA reliability protocol. If VRRP is used, only local recovery is supported |
