LTANS WG meeting 7/25/2007 - 69th IETF - Chicago Approximately 15-20 people attended the meeting in person (15 signed the blue sheets) 3-5 persons not physically attending participated via Jabber Audio stream archive may be found here: http://limestone.uoregon.edu/ftp/pub/videolab/media/ietf69/ Jabber log may be found here: http://www3.ietf.org/meetings/ietf-logs/ltans/2007-07-25.html Introduction/Preliminary stuff (slides: http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07jul/slides/ltans-1.ppt) The current document suite was reviewed. ERS is in the RFC editor's queue. There are currently 5 active working group documents. ERS/SCVP is in working group last call. LTAP is primary focus for WG at this point. New XMLERS will be released soon. New draft (DSSC) on representing security suitability of algorithms has been posted. Verify draft will be updated to incorporate (DSSC). Milestone Review (slides: ltans-1.ppt) Milestones have been updated. LTAP is the primary focus with aims to complete by the Spring (WG LC in February). Other drafts should be wrapped up in that time frame as well. Re-charter or close decision at Philadelphia meeting or shortly thereafter. WC3 update (slides: http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07jul/slides/ltans-4.pdf) An XML Core working group interoperability meeting will be held in Mountain View, CA on September 27th to discuss issues related to XML digital signature and encryption specifications. Namespace-related canonicalization issues will be discussed. Work on the second edition of XML digital signature specification is largely complete. Publication will proceed once C14N 1.1 is finished. The second edition clarifies some language, cleans up references, etc. Decryption transform gets very little usage and may be dropped. A workshop will be held on September 25 and 26 in Mountain View, CA to discuss the next steps for the XML digital signature and encryption specifications. To attend, a position paper must be prepared and submitted by August 14th. Workshop report will be released in November. ERS and XMLERS update (slides: none) ERS is in the RFC editor's queue. The -01 version of XMLERS will be released soon. LTAP update (slides: http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07jul/slides/ltans-3.ppt) LTAP -05 was recently released. Still incomplete but much further along than earlier versions. Primary outliers are specification of meta-data required to fulfill service operations and specification of additional error handling details. -05 added a new service operation: LISTIDS. At least some of the HTTP issues raised for SCVP apply to LTAP. Will likely review how PKIX addresses this issue and adopt something similar. Need to decide how to handle scenario in which a client makes a request in ASN.1 or XML and the server only has preservation evidence in the other encoding format. DSSC review (slides: http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07jul/slides/ltans-0.ppt) An overview of this new standards-track draft was provided. The draft basically defines a structure for representing algorithm suitability policy. The representation is encoded in XML. ASN.1 should be provided since we have both encodings for ERS and LTAP (no need to require XML for clients that only implement ASN.1 stack). There were some questions w.r.t. archiving policy statements vs. accumulating policy statements in the most recent policy publication. There was no consensus on this issue, but slightly more folks in favor of accumulating policy statements in the most recent policy publication. Misc (slides: none) CADES draft from the S/MIME working group will receive a cross-group review by the LTANS working group.
