WG Status and Update - Chairs Recharter expected in following 2-3 months as most of the work has been finished. Any new works? There are 3 persons interested in a new protocol work for PON. Three drafts in progress. Multicast, AN MIB, ANCP for PON. MIB is expected to be finished soon. A NAS MIB is missing. 2. Protocol Draft IESG Review Update - Tom Taylor Protocol draft has been sent to IESG and received several questions. Relationship to RFC 3292 (GSMPv3)? Particularly reuse of ethertype 0x880c and port number 6068 Thomas Haag: 6068 is manadatory. Chair: It is already used by GSMP. Agreed as mandatory. Question: can we get rid of sub-version, and say simply that our initial version of ANCP is 50 (0x32)? Agreed. One version field with initial value 50. Why did we recommend that the adjacency timers at the two ends should have the same value? Tom: The end point has to learn the value. Nabil Bitar: This is a common case even for other protocols. Nabil Bitar: Lack procedure negotiating sending and receiving timer. Need further work. Language tag for diagnostic text in Status-Info Chair: Why need a language? Need to follow up and understand the issue. Need to clarify what is logged in MIB (Sec. 3.6.1.4) Some follow work needs to be done and update MIB draft accordingly. Use of "must", "should", "may" Thomas Haag: Was in line with BBF TR-147. Tom: confuse people in IETF. Example: must agree Chair: Is it an internal interface? If yes, whole part could be removed. Give a try to modify in IETF flavor and make everybody happy. 3. Multicast Extensions for ANCP - draft-ietf-ancp-mc-extensions-04.txt - Tom Taylor Chair: Clean up the doc and it is good for last call. 4. ANCP for PON - draft-ietf-ancp-pon-00.txt - Nabil Bitar Some input from Hongyu and Thomas on architecture description with input from BBF. Add Hongyu and Thomas as co-authors. May WGLC after Quebec. 5. Following work on protocol extension for PON Three guys volunteered for protocol extension draft. Expected to be a separate framework for PON specific. No initial draft yet, not sure if can make it by quebec. Chair: Need to add a mile stone in the charter for protocol extension. Chair: Regarding interworking between ANCP and OMCI, just write in the draft first and see how it looks like before we decide to do a new id. Nabil Bitar: It also has something with ITU-T.
