Agenda
PCE
Working Group Meeting - Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 9:00 AM
1. Introduction
1.1. Administrivia, Agenda Bashing (chairs, 5 min) [5/120]
- IPR Statement, people
need to review and consider IPR must be disclosed as early as possible.
1.2. WG Status (chairs, 10 min) [15/120]
- One new RFC (RFC6123)
since IETF79.
- draft-ietf-pce-inter-layer-ex
expired. Fatai Zhang is discussing work with authors.
- draft-ietf-pce-pcep-mib
expired. Dan King (as co-author) requested feedback and implementer experience
to help move the draft forward.
- Cyril Margaria mentioned ongoing discussions occurring between the authors of
draft-ietf-pce-gmpls-aps-req and draft-ietf-pce-vendor-constraints.
- The WG were asked to consider if draft-ietf-pce-vpn-req is ready to be closed based on current VPN
solution documents.
1.3. PCEP Port Issue (chairs + Ramon Casellas,
10 min) [25/120]
- It seems text
regarding the source port was introduced between version 13 and 14 of the
document. This was to address a specific source port security issue. Considering
this is a legacy requirement and there was broad agreement that there is no
longer a need to impose the source port. The co-chairs agreed under the proviso
that it needs to be discussed with a security expert first.
2. GMPLS
2.1. PCEP Extensions for
GMPLS (Cyril Margaria, 10 min) [35/120]
draft-ietf-pce-gmpls-pcep-extensions-02
- Co-chairs mentioned
there was good progress and it was obvious good that the proposed change is
backwards compatible. They also suggested that the authors check the draft with
a security expert and then the work can move forward.
- Co-chairs felt that
the protection object needs further consideration.
2.2. PCEP Requirement
for RWA (Young Lee, 5 min) [40/120]
draft-ietf-pce-wson-routing-wavelength-03
- Lou Berger as CCAMP
co-chair asked PCE co-chairs if they felt impairments should be progressed in
the PCE WG. The PCE co-chairs mentioned they are open to proposals.
2.3. PCEP Extensions for
RWA (Oscar Gonzales de Dios, 10 min) [50/120]
- Co-chairs felt the draft
was a little early for WG adoption. Some additional work on consistency with and
reference to draft-ietf-pce-gmpls-pcep-extensions is expected.
- Co-chairs made a general
observation that proposed extensions need strong justification, new protocol work
that only offers very slight optimization is not so beneficial.
3. Multi-Domain
3.1. Representation of
Domain Sequence (Dhruv Dhody, 10 min) [60/120]
draft-dhody-pce-pcep-domain-sequence-00
- Co-chairs polled the
room and two people had read the draft. They suggested the author should try to
trigger more discussion on the mailing list.
3.2. BRPC Extensions for
Inter-AS Bidirectional LSPs (Xuerong Wang, 10 min)
[70/120]
draft-wang-pce-inter-as-extentions-00
-
It was mentioned that BRPC [RFC54441] can be used, and
asked why these protocol extensions are required. Authors were requested to
scope the problem in more detail.
3.3. Forward Search Path
Computation for P2P and P2MP (Huaimo Chen, 20 min)
[90/120]
draft-chen-pce-forward-search-p2p-path-computation-00
draft-chen-pce-forward-search-p2mp-path-00
- The author was asked
to justify the motivation and benefits of this solution, especially considering
well-known solutions which already exist.
- Path Key was proposed by the author as a collaborative technique for
maintaining domain confidentially.
- Due to a failure in WG CSMA/CD during Q&A session, the co-chairs will
also raise some points on the WG list.
3.4. Path Key MIB (Dhruv
Dhody, 5 min) [95/120]
draft-dhody-pce-pcep-pathkey-mib-01
- The co-chairs polled
the group to see who has implemented. There was one implementer attending the
session.
4. Miscellaneous
4.1. Backup Node
Computation (Huaimo Chen, 5 min) [100/120]
draft-chen-pce-compute-backup-ingress-01
draft-chen-pce-compute-backup-egress-01
- Author was asked why
this functionality cannot be achieved using existing mechanisms like XRO.
- Author was also asked to consider the impact of this solution on a network
that uses fast-reroute.
- The general consensus was the solutions require further investigation and
documentation and the motivation also needs to be documented.
4.2. Open Mic: Charter Update (all, 20 min) [120/120]
- New WG
items including TED mechanisms and alternatives may be proposed for the new
charter. Please provide feedback and suggestions on the list.
- WG was asked to review the recharter text and provide feedback ASAP, ideally
by April 10, 2011.
- Authors of drafts specifically mentioned as milestones on the new recharter
proposal, should review the milestone dates and provide feedback if they
disagree with said dates.
