IETF 80, RMT WG Minutes Friday, 30 March 2011 =========================== WG Updates - Brian Adamson ========================== Current WG Documents: - SUBMITTED FOR PUBLICATION: - draft-ietf-rmt-flute-revised-12 - draft-ietf-rmt-simple-auth-for-alc-norm-03 - draft-ietf-rmt-bb-fec-raptorq-05 - PENDING SUBMISSION - draft-ietf-rmt-sec-discussion-05 - draft-ietf-rmt-fcast-03 (WG Chair Comments) - UPDATED DRAFTS: - draft-ietf-rmt-flute-sdp-00 FLUTE Discussion - ============================ Some discussion of the recommendation to updated the version number of the FLUTE protocol to Version 2 with the revised specification was conducted. It was noted that the ALC/LCT protocols version number did not get incremented with their revision. One suggestion for FLUTE / ALC deployments is that a different FLUTE version number for FLUTE would allow implementations to infer that the underlying ALC version was also the newer revised specification. In both cases, FLUTE and ALC, the revised specifications are not backwards compatible with the Experimental RFC documents. Some of the changes in FLUTE include: 1) Different wrap-around algorithm 2) Modified namespace The Transport AD and IESG had suggested that an updated version number was necessary. Vincent Roca and Mike Luby concurred with this. Rod Walsh expressed concerns that the changes made to the specification were unnecessary. An ACTION ITEM was identified to initiate a further discussion on the mailing list along with historical emails, etc citing the changes and reasons for those changes. A deadline of 1 month was agreed for resolving this issue. SDP Descriptors for FLUTE ============================ Review of the updated document was encourage so that it may be considered for WG Last Call and subsequent publication submission. FCAST Update ============================= Due to time constraints the FCAST Update presentation was not made. The meeting materials contains the presentation. RaptorQ Update ============================= The document was revised to reflect AD and IESG comments. The meeting materials contains details on these changes. UOD RaptorQ Submission ============================== A personal submission on a new FEC Scheme was presented by Thomas Stockhammer. The document was submitted shortly before the the IETF 80 event. It was suggested that working group members review the document and express opinions concerning the value of adding the document as an RMT working group item.
