********************************************************************** IETF 82 PWE3 - WEDNESDAY, November 16, 2011 - 09:00-11:30 (150 min) Room 201 ABC ********************************************************************** Chairs: Matthew Bocci and Andy Malis Secretary: David Sinicrope (All slide sets received as of Nov 14 9:25 Taipei time) ************* 20 min - Agenda bash, WG Agenda and Status - Andy MALIS and Matthew BOCCI Andy presented status sllides. Elation on jabber over completion of OAM message mapping. draft-ietf-pwe3-static-pw-status - last draft needed for phase 1 of MPLS-TP. The resolution of the DISCUSSES from IESG review are completed. The next revision will go straight to the RFC Editor. RFC Editor has been notified to progress document with priority so document ready for SG15 meeting in December. Please read new WG drafts and post comments on slide Document Status 6 The discussion on draft-nadeau has not come to a conclusion one way or the other. Please review the draft and comments and please comment on the list. ************* 10 min - Encapsulation Methods for Transport of Fibre Channel Traffic over MPLS Networks - David BLACK http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pwe3-fc-encap David Black presented the slides. The document stuck on missing reference from T11. Lost coordination with T11, but regained. The delta from BB-5 to 6 is fairly small. T11 will amend bb-5. Amendment in letter ballot. Result should be BB-5 Ammendment 1 which is a referencable document. Questions: Stewart: all the PW is in there? by Ref or by value? David: All information will be put in to the documents directly. All statemachines, etc. Stewart: will we need to make a reference change? David: Yes, will notify you and Adrian of what needs to change. ************* 10 min - Pseudowire Control Word Negotiation Mechanism Analysis and Update - Lizhong JIN http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pwe3-cbit-negotiation Lizhong presented the slides. slide 3 - a new label release was added between PE2 and PE1 when there is a change of configuration. Is the document ready for working group last call? The chairs will discuss after taipei and if ready it will go to last call and if not they will discuss with authors. No issues anticipated as sufficient discussion was present on the list and the document is felt to be in good shape. No questions. ************* 10 min - Signaling Root-Initiated Point-to-Multipoint Pseudowires using LDP - Sami BOUTROS http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pwe3-p2mp-pw Sami presented the slides. Interface parameters define s,g that will be used with new PW FEC The label mapping will have the FEC, the label associated with the FEC, and the interface parameter will contain a sub parameter for the mroute. There are a number of IANA allocations. No questions. ************* 10 min - Definition of P2MP PW TLV for LSP-Ping Mechanisms - Sami BOUTROS http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jain-mpls-p2mp-pw-lsp-ping (switched order with ... mpls-tp-mac-wd.) Sami presented slides. Looking for WG adoption since LSP Ping is needed on p2mp. Request for WG adoption will be taken to the list. No questions. ************* 10 min - MAC Address Withdrawal over Static Pseudowire - Sami BOUTROS http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-boutros-pwe3-mpls-tp-mac-wd (switched order with ... p2mp-pw-lsp-ping.) Sami presented. This was presented last in Prague. Application is for VPLS network. If need to do MAC withdraw for static PW how is it done? Could do with new message, but decided to use what was there in PWE3 static PW status draft with some tweaks. New TLV in MAC Withdraw OAM Message. Message must have an explicit ack, refresh timer not used. Message will be repeated until ack received. See Operation slide. Receiver may get duplicates and must acknowledge the duplicate. Requesting an IANA allocation of sequence number TLV. Questions: Stewart: Question for Chairs: This draft has ITU boiler plate, but it is not a transport problem, it is a PWE issue. Should that boiler plate be there? Andy: Not a WG draft so question is to the authors. Sami: It should have same consideration as PW status. Stewart: But it is for VPLS which is not a transport topic. Is there a need for ITU involvement? If no need for ITU involvement draft will be changed to remove ITU boiler plate. Luca: Is there any interest in pursuing MAC address withdraw? Loa: Your question is unclear. Andy: Any interest in this room? Interest of WG only answered by the list. Luca: currently editing PW Status from IESG review. One field that says "TLVs" Was asked to change. If changed to TLV, then no room for this. Need to see interest to know what to do. Sami: The question is whether it is needed. Luca: we did not do in L2VPN so it should really be done there. Sami: can present there to see if interst, but mechanisms are PWE3 Stewart: We should make use of mailing list to find out if interest and between meetings. Andy: email to PWE3 and L2VPN on the topic Sami: did it before but will do it again. ************* 10 min - Pseudowire Redundancy on S-PE - Jie DONG http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-dong-pwe3-redundancy-spe Jie presented the slides. Questions: Lizhong: I have a concern with the OAM. If using VCCV3 TTL it may not work because active and standby will have different hops, then how can you use TTL? Jie: If you want to send OAM the TTL can be set sufficiently large Lizhong: Then it will not be received correctly (Lizhong clarified on figure in PW redundancy on S-PE slide) Jie: If want to send OAM will send to a sufficiently large number. Stewart: I don't understand problem, if you want to send OAM just set TTL sufficiently large unless you want to stop in the middle. Then a problem because different number of hops. Lizhong: Will discuss offline. Please send comments to the list. ************* 10 min - Pseudowire Communities - Wim HENDERICKX http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-pkwok-pwe3-pw-communities Wim presented on behalf of the authors. Draft was presented in Quebec City. One comment received is "Is this needed at this point in time?" Yes need a mechanism to be able to exchange global community information. Questions: Andy: How many read the draft? ~7 Same number believe that it should be a WG draft. Luca: How aobut doing this in BGP? The idea was to do with BGP and dynamic PWs. Why do with LDP as well? Wim: We can use BGP, but not always there. e.g., when using only LDP or Static MS-PWs. Luca: Policy in those cases is limted because path is set so why do we need this? Wim: Need to have some information to trigger different types of PWs or the LSPs underneath for the supporting the PWs. Discussion will be taken to the list. ************* 10 min - LDP extensions for Explicit Pseudowire to transport LSP mapping - Mach CHEN http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-cao-pwe3-mpls-tp-pw-over-bidir-lsp Mach presented. Update to LDP extentions draft. Need to hae explicit control over the PW-LSP binding at the control plane. Questions: Andy: Who has read the draft? ~7. Discussion of the draft to the list. YJS (via Jabber):Not clear why needed for ss-pw case. Both sides can know which tunnel is used, so why signal it ? Mach: You can configure to get same result, but doesn't scale. YJS: Not really, but we can discuss on the list Andy: We will take discussion to the list. ************* 10 min - IPv6 PW LSP Ping - Mach CHEN http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-chen-mpls-ipv6-pw-lsp-ping Mach presented. Questions: No questions. Will take discussion to the list. Andy noted that the Chairs think that this is an important piece of work for the WG. Please review the draft. Fills an existing hole in PWE3. ************* 10 min - Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links (TRILL) over an MPLS PSN (Packet Switched Network) - Donald EASTLAKE http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-yong-trill-trill-o-mpls Don presented. Presentation on this informational draft. This draft requires no changes to the TRILL or MPLS standards. Draft may be renamed to TRILL over VPLS and VPWS. Will also go through TRILL WG. Slide 3: Each hop can be a different technology. Looking for feedback to authors or the list. Questions: Andy: Question on Heirarchical L2VPN. Has TRILL considered this solution vs. using PBB for hiding customer MAC addresses. Don: No discussion of PBB in TRILL. Should send feedback to TRILL list. ************* 10 min - Shortest Path Bridging (SPB) over an MPLS Packet Switched Network - Lucy YONG http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-mack-crane-l2vpn-spb-o-mpls Lucy presented. Draft, is an informational draft and was originally for L2VPN, but wanted to communicate to PWE3 because it uses PW. More precise to say SPB over VPLS and VPWS. STP should be SPT which stands for Shortest Path Tree. This is different than what TRILL can support. No questions. If you have comments, please post to the L2VPN list vs. PWE3. ************* 10 min - CP extension for the MSP application - Yuxia MA http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-hao-pwe3-iccp-extension-for-msp Yuxia presented. Scott: which is the back up connection? Yuxia: Backup connection is from the Service router to either NE2 or NE3. One of them is the backup. Several have read the draft. Only a few wish to see it as a WG draft. Luca: should take this to the list. Is there any service provider requirement to do this across multiple platforms? This has been implemented as proprietary soultion for many years. Do we need to now standardize it? Andy: (as VZ) yes. No further questions. ************* Session adjourned. ********************************************************************** JABBER INFORMATION FOR THE PWE3 SESSION(S) ********************************************************************** Jabber Room address: pwe3@jabber.ietf.org ********************************************************************** WEBEX INFORMATION FOR THE PWE3 SESSION(S) ********************************************************************** PWE3 Webex Session - No Webex this time.
