Intarea WG meeting IETF 92, Thursday, March 26, 2015, 17:40-18:40 Chairs: Suresh Krishnan, Juan-Carlos Zuniga Minutes: Barbara Stark Jabber: Agenda: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/agenda/agenda-92-intarea Suresh briefly stepped through the chair slides: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-0.pdf. There were many requests for presentation slots, so presentations will be gone through quickly with limited discussion. ---- Fred Templin walked through slides on Tunnel MTU and Advisory Packet Too Big Messages: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-2.pdf. There was no discussion. ---- Ronald Bonica walked through slides on IPv6 Support for Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE): http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-1.pdf. Would like to ask for WG last call. Question as to whether the proposal is really to throw the packets away by default? Yes. But happy to switch default if that is what WG wants. [Will make that change.] Other change suggested and agreed to: If you receive checksum must use to verify integrity. Will make changes and submit for WG Last Call. Also submit to 6man. ---- Tom Herbert presented on Generic UDP Encapsulation: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-3.pdf. Which WG should GUE be in? Question regarding potential uses. This could be used to do transport encapsulation. Probably need to add DTLS. Draft created because a mechanism to ensure security of encapsulation was needed. But protocol should be designed to be extensible to meet other uses. Various details discussed. Can take discussions offline. Current status is in call for WG adoption. None of drafts have received negative comments. Will do conversation on list and see if there is a WG willing to pick them up. But if none are willing, can do this in intarea. Preference is to keep all drafts together. Brian H. (new AD) wants to make sure routing area is fine with this. Tom is involved there. Additional discussion of why this is probably the right place to do the work. Suresh reiterated plan to take conversation to the list and get consensus on the right place for these drafts to be handled. ---- Hui Deng presented MIF status: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-4.pdf. There was no discussion. ---- Lishan Li presented DHCPv6 Options for Discovery of 464XLAT IPv6 Prefixes: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-5.pdf. Can this move forward, and which WG is the right one? Suresh provided background as to why this may be the right place to do the work. There was no discussion. Will take the question to the list to adopt this in the intarea WG. ---- Erik Nordmark presented on IP over Intentionally Partially Partitioned Links: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/92/slides/slides-92-intarea-6.pdf. Cable Modem should be added to the list of examples. Frame relay, too. Is Wi-Fi hotspot also a use case? If separation is done through L3 ACL, maybe not. It's not the L2 behavior that is restricting L3 communication. There were suggestions for additional references. ----- Meeting was officially ended, but discussion did continue a little.
