IntArea WG Agenda IETF 96 - Berlin 18:30-19:30 Thursday Afternoon session III, Room Potsdam III Chairs: Juan Carlos Zuniga (SIGFOX) (JCZ) Wassim Haddad (Ericsson) (WH) Minutes taken by Ian Farrer 1. Agenda Bashing, WG & Document Status, Announcements (Chairs) Announcement - IAB stack evolution program, Brian Trammell Carlos Bernardos presented on the new INT Area Directorate and last call review process. Suresh Krishnan (SK): We're trying to harmonize INT area with the other directorate members. We haven't been doing this in the past, we need to. We want to systematically review all of the documents going before going to last call. WG chairs can opt out. We won't like it, but you can do it. SK: There will be a round robin list. Probably one a month. 2. GUE and Extensions, Tom Hebert (TH) draft-ietf-nvo3-gue-04 draft-herbert-gue-extensions-00 JCZ: next step will be to request adoptioin on the list. David Black (DB): After Russ Callen talk at the plenary. Do we need more encapsulations? TH: The irony is that I was saying that there are too many at the mike. The diff with GUE is that this does it all and it's the last encapsulation protocol we will need. room: Laughter DB: This won't be the last. We have enough. A guidance doc for what to use when would be useful. SK: Google XKCD 'Standards'. I don't share the optimism that this will be the last. We had the same thing in Softwire. If we can identify the difference for where GUE can be used instead of something else, it would be useful. 3. IP Broadcast Considerations, Rolf Winter (RW) draft-winfaa-intarea-broadcast-consider-02 JCZ: There's been some support for this. The Christian Huitema (CH): I think it should be adopted immediately. We have a document on hostname considered harmful. This seems to be taking a long time to publish. WH: We will request publication of the hostname doc after the meeting. JCZ: We will take it to the list. 4. IP Encapsulation Congestion Notification Guidelines, Bob Briscoe (BB) draft-ietf-tsvwg-ecn-encap-guidelines-07 draft-briscoe-tsvwg-rfc6040bis-01 draft-briscoe slide DB: Both VXLan and GTP(?) have the same status they are going anywhere. All the work in nvo3 is on new encapsulation. Eric Nordmark (EN): You say standards track - it's not clear what status they will have yet. BB: It says intended status JCZ: Call for volunteers for review on the mailing list 5. Extended Ping, Ron Bonica (Chris Bowers (CB) presenting) draft-bonica-intarea-eping-00 Jen Lenkova (JL): When you identify an interface, for v6 you specify it with zone index correct? CB: Yes. I pointed out that JL: Is it int and address if I have both. Can I specify them both? CB: This is not currently defined. I would welcome suggestions. Andy Yourtchenko (AY): I see similarity with SNMP get for an OID CB: Yes CH: I think you might want to develop the security section. You can probe for things that aren't otherwise visible. CB: I agree JCZ: Comments to the list. 6. BW Aggregation for Internet Access, Margaret Cullen draft-mrc-banana-considerations-01 JCZ: I encourage people interested in the topic to attend the Bar BoF tonight at 20:00. 7.
