Minutes of the SIPREC WG Interim Virtual Meeting, 2010-09-28, 14.00-16.00 GMT/UTC =============================================== Meeting chaired by Brian Rosen and John Elwell. Minutes produced by John Elwell based on notes from Alan Johnston. Jabber log: http://www.ietf.org/jabber/logs/siprec/2010-09-28.txt Meeting started at 14.00. Topic - Administrivia (chairs) ============================== http://kenrehor.com/ietf/siprec/Chairs.pdf No changes to published agenda. Participants: Brian Rosen, John Elwell, Ken Rehor, Andy Hutton, Paul Kyzivat, Alan Johnston, Leon Portman, Cullen Jennings, Dave Smith, Henry Lum, Parthasarathi, Ram Mohan, Simon Romano. Topic - Requirements (Ken Rehor) draft-ietf-siprec-req-02 ================================ http://kenrehor.com/ietf/siprec/IETF-78.5-interim-meeting-SIPREC-Req.pdf Version -02 had been posted a few hours before the meeting. Failure, rejecting calls REQ-8, 9, 10, and 11 (tracker #26, #27, #28) discussed Interest in including high availability requirement in this version. Authors will rework requirement and make list proposals. Codec Negotiation - Tracker #4 Without transcoding, the recorder must be able to handle any codecs negotiated between UAC and UAS. Brian will work on formulating a requirement that if SRC knew codecs supported by SRS, it could influence UAC/UAS negotiation. Pause/Resume Agreed to stick to "pause" and "resume" terms. Do not need start/stop as well. Ken will reword. Chat, IM, Text There is a desire to support session mode MESSAGE, XMPP, but probably not MSRP DTMF is sometimes not transported as RTP, and also needs to be supported. Ken will work on requirements, with help from Brian. REQ-6 and REQ-5 No objection to removal. Metadata in/out of SIP dialog No objection to removal. REQ-22 Clarify this requirement is on the SRC and deletes recording and sometimes the metadata as well. Section 5, Use Case 4 Delete controversial text. Silence recording - Ken will reword. "post-correlated" - get rid of "post". permanent filter-type basis - Leon can try to explain what this means on the list. Security, Authorization Needs more details. Ken will make proposals on the list for consensus on the various issues, based on feedback from this meeting, by the end of this week, with the hope of reaching concensus next week and publishing -03 before the next interim meeting (see below). Although it would be good to kick off WGLC immediately after the next interim, to finish in time for the session in IETF#78, security requirements are likely to be the critical factor. Topic - Architecture (Andy Hutton) draft-ietf-siprec-architecture-00 ==================================================================== http://kenrehor.com/ietf/siprec/20100928_Interim_siprec_architecture.pdf Open Issue - Ticket #17 - Delivering Metadata Initial INVITE will only be able to convey part of metadata. Open Issue - Ticket #38 - Focus interaction Also mention XCON extensions to conference event package Brian raised issue of SRS being a conference participant, rather than SRC - will bring to list. Relationship to MediaCtrl There was no objection to the principle that MediaCtrl is not relevant between the SRC and the SRS, although could be used to decompose either the SRC or the SRS. Andy will make a few changes and send out a new version before the cut-off. Topic - Metadata model(Paul Kyzivat) ================================ http://kenrehor.com/ietf/siprec/SIPREC%20Metamodel%20-%20Interim%2028-sep-2010.pdf There was no time for this topic. Paul and the chairs urged people to engage in list discussions on this important topic. Wrap-up ================================ During discussions, there was a complaint that tracker-issued messages on the list do not contain the text of the issue. It was agreed that editors (or others changing tracker status) should copy the text of the issue to the list, in particular to help people reading the mailing list off-line. It was noted that the subject of tracker etiquette had been discussed recently on another list in RAI (SIPCORE?), and this seems to be a further point. Perhaps a more general discussion is needed - John to initiate. Before closing the meeting, interest was expressed by some participants in holding a further interim call. The only slot would be in two weeks time, 2010-10-12, 14.00-16.00 GMT/UTC. Any later would be too close to IETF#79 and would miss cut-off dates. Priority topics for the interim will be any remaining requirements issues, particularly security, and metadata model. The meeting was closed at 16.10.
