Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Transportation from the airport to the IETF 86 meeting venue - Caribe Royale All-Suite Hotel

For those that choose to rent a car: the venue is approximately 20-25 minutes from the airport. The highways have tolls ($2.25-4.00); plan to have a few dollars in US currency if you're driving to or from the airport. Hertz has a rental desk at the Caribe Royale. Be aware that some rental agencies (e.g. Advantage and Fox) are off-airport, and a shuttle will be required; the airport has a list of car rental agencies showing which are on-site. When returning, make sure you're paying a reasonable price for petrol: several stations in the immediate vicinity of the airport are famous for price gouging. As of February, normal prices are about $3.75-4.00 per gallon.

The Mears Shuttle shared van service or a taxi are probably the easiest ways to get to the hotel. While it is technically possible to take public transportation via bus, the Orlando Lynx bus site gives an approximate travel to destination time of over two hours, with at least one transfer.

The Mears Shuttle shared van service:

Shuttle vans are available on both the A and B sides of the Main Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1), at the Commercial Lane parking spaces:

A9-A10 and A36-A37

B9-B10 and B40-B41

Approximate cost of travel to and from the meeting venue via the shuttle is $34 round trip or $21 one way. There is a shuttle van attendant in the terminal to purchase tickets from, or you may book the trip online by going to the Mears Shuttle site.

PLEASE NOTE: When making online reservations for the overflow hotel, Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista, the Mears Shuttle site lists this as “Holiday Inn Sunspree Lvb.” There is only one choice for the Caribe Royale on their drop-down menu, but many different Holiday Inn drop off sites in the greater Orlando area. When in doubt, please double check the street address so you have the correct hotel.

Supershuttle shared van service

Can be prebooked via http://supershuttle.com/

Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Caribe Royal costs $32.00 as round trip prebooked.

Taxicabs:

One-way fare in a taxicab to the IETF 86 meeting venue is approximately $50, not including gratuity. Gratuity it typically 15% to 20% of the meter reading.

Taxis may carry up to 9 passengers, and charge the same rate regardless of the number of passengers. All taxicabs picking up at the Airport are regulated by the City of Orlando’s Vehicle-for-Hire ordinance which requires fares to be determined by a taximeter. Flat rate fees are not authorized. Therefore metered rate may vary from the approximate rates quoted here.

Taxis are available on both the A and B sides of the Main Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level) 1, at Commercial Lane parking spaces:

A5-A8 and A22-A25

B5-B8 and B30-B34
