SIM Clue

* From: John R Levine

There's a Tbooth wireless store at 1024 Robson St, roughly halfway between the Hyatt and the Sheraton. They have products from a variety of carriers, see http://www.tboothwireless.ca/

There's also a Rogers dealer at 595 Burrard St, about 1/2 block north of the Hyatt. Rogers is the dominant GSM carrier in Canada.

Last time in Vancouver, I picked up a Fido SIM card at Pepper Wireless in the Royal Centre which is right next door to the Hyatt. You can get there without getting wet (assuming it will be raining in November). I think I had to buy the SIM for $10 and then add another $10 in credits to buy data access. I have no idea if this is a good deal or not.

Data on Fido is $1 for 10MB (24 hour expiration) or $5 for 60MB (7 day expiration). This was enough for me (it helps if you cache your google maps in offline mode first). It was the best deal I saw at the time, but times change! :-)
