Taxi service is available to the City of Chicago and suburban destinations. Please make sure to use the designated Taxi Stands to ensure you have a licensed driver. **For your protection, do not accept rides from drivers outside the cab stand or on the departure level (second level) of the terminal roadways. All taxis should have a working meter to calculate the fare based on time and mileage.** - Fares are based on traffic conditions, but an average fare from O'Hare to downtown Chicago is $30-40. - For wheelchair accessible vehicles, please call: 1.855.WAV.1010 Shared ride service is available to those who wish to share a ride and pay a flat rate to certain destinations if multiple parties are available for the trip. The CTA bus has 140 routes in the greater Chicago area, several routes have overnight service. The "L" is comprised of eight train routes in and around the city of Chicago. The closest "L" station to the Swissotel Chicago is State/Lake Station, serving the Brown, Orange (the line from Chicago Midway Airport), Purple, Green, and Pink lines, or the Washington Station for the Blue line (the Blue line train runs from Chicago O'Hare Airport). Both the Red line and the Blue line operate 24 hours a day. This system of underground tunnels and overhead bridges links more than 40 blocks in the Central Business District, covering roughly five miles. Used by tens of thousands of pedestrians each day, the Pedway connects to public and private buildings, CTA stations and commuter rail facilities. Development of the Pedway began in 1951, when the City of Chicago built one-block tunnels connecting the Red Line and Blue Line subways at Washington Street and Jackson Boulevard. Since then, both public and private investment have expanded the Pedway, and the system now connects more than 50 buildings. The Pedway is a safe, quick and convenient way for pedestrians to travel downtown—especially in the winter and during times of rain or snow.
