A possible way forward End goal A general fast handover specification Specific subspecifications tailoring to particular networks on which the general specification is to operate Steps to that goal Finish the revision of the draft v4 to v5 then (Possibly) put it on hold temporarily Write a specific proposal for FMIPv6 operating on 802.11for Proposed Standard Constrained to working without any modification to 802.11 itself (many issues contentious issues disappear) Find a candidate alternate wireless network for another specific description and write it (3gpp2 perhaps?) Use the lessons from these to produce a general spec to incorporate into the FMIP draft
